Inga Foundation's current Projects in Honduras : February 2010 

a) 10-year programs for the implementation of the "Guama", or "8-hectare", Model with communities in two river catchments. Both areas are of critical conservation importance; both are in the buffer zones of Forest Reserves / National Parks. Both programs are implemented with partner NGOs.

 

  1. Rio Cuero. Atlantida. Adjacent to the Pico Bonito National Park.
    Fundacion Guama.
  2. The Capapan sub-catchment of the Rio Patuca. Olancho. Rio Patuca National Park.
    Mosquitia Pawisa (MOPAWI).

b) Logistical support to the above : Demonstration Farms / Seed-banks

Research / demo-plots of Inga alley-cropping (6 Inga spp.) in the Centro Universitario Regional del Litoral Atlantico (CURLA); Honduran National Autonomous University (UNAH). La Ceiba. Atlantida.

On-farm demo-plots are already established in both areas.

c) A regional workshop / conference, for Central American NGOs and others, and based on the Guama Model, is planned for 2012.
